The short pile grade is the volume product in the turf range, and it is ordered for two very different reasons. Distributors and retailers take it because it is the lowest cost per square metre in the catalogue and it moves through a shelf or an online listing without needing to be explained. Fit-out and event buyers take it because a 10mm blade behaves more like a carpet than like grass: it lies flat, it takes furniture without denting, and it cuts cleanly around a fixture.
Between the two heights, 10mm is the one to specify when the turf is a floor finish, in a shop window, a balcony, a kids' play corner or under display furniture. 15mm gives slightly more body and reads a little more like grass from standing height, so it is the better of the two for a balcony or a small terrace that people actually look at rather than just walk on. Neither height is a landscape product; for a surface that has to pass for a lawn, the Pastoral Panel range is the one to quote.
Both heights share the range's specification: UV stabilised for outdoor use, Class B1 fire retardant, cold rated to -45°C, on a perforated latex-SBR backing that drains rather than pooling. Because this is the grade most often bought for resale, it is also the one most often shipped in neutral wrap for a distributor's own label, which is included as standard rather than charged as an extra.
