Pastoral Panel is the landscape grade in the range: the turf specified when the finished surface has to pass for a real lawn rather than read as a decorative green mat. The yarn is tufted in three tones, two greens against a straw-coloured thatch, so that the surface breaks up under daylight instead of returning one flat colour. That thatch layer is what most buyers are actually paying for, and it is the difference visible from ten metres away between landscape turf and the short display grades further down this page.
Pile height is the decision that matters most. 20mm is the practical choice for rooftop terraces, balconies and anywhere the turf is walked on daily, because a short blade recovers its stance instead of matting down under traffic. 30mm is the general-purpose garden and commercial-grounds height and is the volume seller of the three. 40mm gives the longest, most convincingly natural blade and suits display gardens, show homes and show gardens where the surface is looked at more than it is walked on, but it needs brushing more often in a high-traffic position.
Deep tri-colour runs a darker, cooler green and holds up better under strong sun, which is why it is the usual specification for buyers in the Gulf, Mexico and the southern United States. Light tri-colour is a fresher spring green that suits northern European and Canadian projects and photographs better in overcast light. Both tones are produced on the same backing and to the same certification, so a project can mix them without any difference in installation.
Roll width is a waste-control decision rather than a product difference. The 4m roll covers most gardens and terraces in a single run with no seam down the middle; the 2m roll is easier to handle up a stairwell or onto a roof and cuts with less offcut on narrow or irregular areas.
